Cottonwood Heights and Holladay families should mark Monday, August 3, at 8:30 a.m. on their calendars. That's when Canyons School District's online registration for the 2026–2027 school year goes live.
Every student in the district must complete the process, whether they're a brand-new kindergartner or a returning senior.
New system, same login
The biggest change this year: Canyons is rolling out Skyward Qmlativ, an upgraded version of the student information system the district has used for years. Business Administrator Leon Wilcox told the Canyons Board of Education at its Tuesday, June 2, meeting that the system was on track to launch in time for August 3 registration.
The interface has been updated, but families will still log in through the same Skyward Family Access portal at student.canyonsdistrict.org. No new account needed for returning families.
What to do before Aug. 3
Returning students: Confirm your Family Access username and password now. Forgotten passwords can be reset at student.canyonsdistrict.org/StudentSTS/Account/ForgotPassword.
New students: Families who have never attended a Canyons District school must first create a Skyward Family Access account by completing the New Student Online Enrollment form before registration day.
For login help, families can call the Canyons Help Desk at 801-826-5544 or the Skyward-specific line at 801-826-5525.
Fees and lunch accounts
During registration, families will pay school fees by credit card and replenish lunch accounts. The board approved new meal prices at its Tuesday, June 16, meeting: elementary lunch rises to $2.50 (from $2), secondary lunch to $3.00 (from $2.25), elementary breakfast to $2.00 (from $1), and secondary breakfast to $2.25 (from $1.25).
Families who qualify can apply for fee waivers by completing the free and reduced-price lunch application during the registration process.
In-person help available
Families without a computer or internet access can use computers in school lobbies. The district is also hosting two walk-in registration help events:
- Wednesday, August 5, 4–7 p.m., Midvale Middle School (7852 S. Pioneer St., Midvale)
- Thursday, August 6, 4–7 p.m., Mt. Jordan Middle School (9351 S. Mountaineer Ln., Sandy)
No walk-in events are scheduled in Cottonwood Heights or Holladay, but families can contact their child's school directly for local options.
Bus permits open the same day
Parents whose children don't qualify for district busing should note: the space-available bus permit program also opens at 8:30 a.m. on Monday, August 3. Permits are granted first-come, first-served by timestamp.
Students who already qualify for transportation do not need to apply. The Transportation Department will notify approved families by Friday, September 11. Questions can go to 801-826-5264.
