Holladay residents tracking the city's zoning discussions will have to wait at least two more weeks. The Planning Commission's Tuesday, Aug. 18 meeting has been canceled, with the next session set for Tuesday, Sept. 1.

City Recorder Stephanie N. Carlson posted the cancellation notice on Monday, Aug. 17, one day before the scheduled meeting. The notice was also posted at City Hall, the Holladay Library and on the Utah Public Notice website.

No reason for the cancellation was given.

The cancellation comes as the commission has been working through a proposed text amendment that would define and allow arts and culture land uses within the Holladay Village Zone. That amendment, File #01-4-19-13, would change Title 13 of the Holladay City Code to permit galleries, studios and other creative businesses in the Village plaza area. The commission's recommendation would then go to the City Council for a final vote.

As we reported July 31, the commission was expected to take up the amendment at its Aug. 4 meeting. Whether that discussion occurred and whether the item will appear on the Sept. 1 agenda have not been confirmed; the September agenda has not yet been posted.

The Planning Commission meets in person at the city's temporary council chambers at 3330 S. 1300 East, Millcreek, and meetings are streamed live at holladayut.gov. Residents can submit written comments by email to [email protected] by 5 p.m. the day before a meeting; those comments become part of the public record.
