Three area boys golf programs placed in the top seven at the 5A state championship at Bountiful Ridge Golf Course in Bountiful.

Olympus finished third (292), Skyline fourth (293) and Brighton seventh (298) in the 16-team field. Timpview won the title with a 276, as the Deseret News reported. Rain and fog suspended play Monday, Oct. 12, before half the field finished, and weather prevented the planned second round entirely. Teams completed the only round they would get Tuesday morning.

Weather cut the tournament to one round.

Olympus sophomore Wyatt Biagi shot a 69 to finish fourth individually, the best score among all area golfers. Senior teammate Abram Nevers carded a 71, tying for 10th. Biagi averaged 70.7 strokes per round during Region 6 play, second only to Skyline's Perry Shaffer, who led the region at 69.3.

Skyline entered the tournament as the defending 5A champion, having won six of the past seven state titles, according to a Deseret News region recap. The Eagles placed fourth this time, one stroke behind Olympus. Sophomore Bodie Green shot 71, tying for 10th, while Shaffer, also a sophomore, finished at 73, tied for 20th.

Brighton's top scorers were senior Andrew High and sophomore Jack Murray, each shooting 73 to tie for 20th. Murray averaged 74.1 in Region 6 play and was the Bengals' top individual performer across the regular season.

All three area schools qualified out of Region 6, where Skyline led the final team standings with a 287.6 average, followed by Olympus at 293.4 and Brighton at 293.8. The state tournament closes the fall season for all three programs.

Biagi's fourth-place individual finish and Olympus's third-place team result mark the Titans' strongest showing at state among the three area schools.
