Cottonwood Heights residents have four free community events to mark on their calendars between late October and November, starting with the annual Spooktacular on Monday, Oct. 26.

The city's Sept. 1 council agenda lists the full lineup, which Administrative Services Director Barbara Higgins is set to discuss during the work session.

Spooktacular runs 5 to 7 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 26, at City Hall, 2277 E. Bengal Blvd.

Star Spangled Finale begins at 7 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 12, at Butler Middle School. The agenda does not list an end time.

Senior Bingo starts at 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 18, at City Hall.

Light the Heights, the city's annual tree-lighting celebration, runs 5 to 7:30 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 30, at City Hall. The 2025 edition, held Dec. 1, featured live music from Brighton High School's Symphonic Band, visits with Santa and Mrs. Claus, a kids' craft room run by the Arts Council, and a holiday vendor market, according to the Cottonwood Heights Journal. All activities were free. The 2026 program has not been announced.

Committee appointments on the table

The Sept. 1 business meeting also includes votes on two committee appointments. Resolution 2026-61 would confirm the city manager's appointment of Dara Hartman and Jarred Olson to fill vacancies on the Arts Council. Resolution 2026-62 would add Nolan Black as a regular member of Health in the Heights, the city's public health advisory committee.

Health in the Heights helped Cottonwood Heights earn the "Healthy Utah Community" designation from Get Healthy Utah and the Utah League of Cities and Towns in October 2025, according to the city's November 2025 newsletter. The committee has focused on access to healthy food, active living and mental health resources.

Both resolutions require council advice and consent. Mayor Gay Lynn Bennion presides over the meeting, which begins at approximately 7 p.m.
