A Holladay choir will perform Mozart's Requiem on Friday, Sept. 11, to mark the 25th anniversary of the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks.

Jubilate, a Salt Lake City-based chorus, takes the stage at 7 p.m. at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, 1375 East Spring Lane, in Holladay. The concert, titled "Lest We Forget," is free and open to the public.

No tickets or RSVP are required.

The one-hour performance will honor those who died in the 2001 attacks, recognize first responders and rescue workers, and express gratitude to local law enforcement and fire and rescue personnel, according to the event listing. A guest orchestra will join the chorus for the program, which runs until 8 p.m. Event details are available on Eventbrite.

Jubilate announced the concert on Aug. 21, describing it as a commemoration featuring the guest orchestra "as we honor those lost and express gratitude to local first responders."

The choir has performed Mozart's Requiem on Sept. 11 every year since 2002, when it joined the global "Rolling Requiem." That worldwide initiative featured choirs in 22 time zones performing the piece simultaneously. Each began at 8:46 a.m. local time, the moment the first plane struck the World Trade Center, the Deseret News reported in 2005.

Jubilate has kept the tradition alive for 24 consecutive years. Jane Schaefermeyer, then the choir's vice president, told the Deseret News in August 2005 that the group welcomed anyone who wanted to sing. "We don't turn anyone away," she said.

The Salt Lake County Zoo, Arts & Parks program, known as ZAP, helps fund Jubilate's concerts. The publicly funded program supports more than 230 arts and cultural nonprofits across the county through grants, according to Salt Lake County. ZAP grantees serve more than 8 million visitors a year, with nearly half attending free of charge.

Jubilate's next performance after the Sept. 11 memorial is Saturday, Dec. 5, at 7 p.m. at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church.
