The Holladay Arts Council is finalizing plans for its biggest night of the year: the Blue Moon Festival returns to Holladay Village on Saturday, Sept. 19, from 5–9 p.m., bringing a moonlit art market, live musicians, street performers, children's activities and food trucks to 2300 E. Murray-Holladay Road.

Council chair Fred Kraut will lead a Wednesday, Aug. 26, meeting at the Holladay Lions Activity Center to nail down volunteer assignments and a timeline for the festival, according to the council's posted agenda. Arts and Culture Manager Megan Attermann will also deliver updates on programming, budget and council terms set to expire.

The festival's first wave of Moonlit Market vendors was announced Aug. 24 on the council's Instagram page. Nine artists and makers are confirmed so far. The lineup includes Mary Attridge, Mary Buckwald (Mary Wald Ltd. Co.), Athena Cole (Red Berry Designs), Thomas Embley, Richard Engar, John Heath (The Pottery Shed), Jen Hickenlooper (Jen Galaxy Art), Tom Jackson and Isma Jehan (The Sis Biz).

Beyond the festival, the council's fall calendar stacks up quickly.

Sept. 9: "Engineering the Desert"

Jeff Niermeyer, retired director of Salt Lake City Public Utilities, will trace the history of water development in Holladay, from early ditches and canals to the modern system. The free lecture starts at 7 p.m. at the Holladay Kiln Auditorium, 1895 E. Rodeo Walk Drive, Suite B200. Enter through the east doors; the talk is on level 2. Open to the public, ages 14 and older.

Oct. 2: Plein Air Reception

The Holladay Arts Council and Holladay Historical Commission will co-host a reception celebrating plein air painters. Details on the painting period and exhibition have not yet been released.

Oct. 3: Holladay Cemetery Tour

The Historical Commission hosts a guided tour of the Holladay Cemetery.

Nov. 11: "The Architecture of Polygamy"

Dr. Martha Bradley Evans headlines the second fall Speaker Series lecture, co-hosted with the Historical Commission.

The Merry Holladay Market, a pop-up holiday market on Holladay Plaza, is also on the council's design agenda for Wednesday's meeting, though no 2026 date has been announced. The market runs about 90 minutes.

Wednesday's Arts Council meeting begins at 5:30 p.m. at the Holladay Lions Activity Center, 1661 E. Murray-Holladay Road. The council's final meeting of the year is Oct. 28.
