Olympus and Skyline earned spots in the Utah High School Activities Association (UHSAA) football state tournament, while Brighton's season ends without a playoff berth.

The UHSAA released brackets for all classifications Saturday, Oct. 17, according to the Deseret News. Both area teams play first-round games Friday, Oct. 30, at 6 p.m.

No. 12 Olympus travels to No. 5 Springville in the 5A bracket. No. 6 Skyline hosts No. 11 Pine View in 4A. Brighton did not appear among the 16 teams in the 5A field.

Skyline hosts Pine View in 4A

Skyline enters the postseason at 7-3 overall and 6-0 in Region 10 play, according to MaxPreps. The Eagles went unbeaten through their 4A region schedule despite being classified as a 5A school playing down in 4A.

Head coach Brandon Matich, in his 20th year leading a Utah high school program, guided Skyline to a 9-4 record and a playoff run last season. This year's team has been dominant in region play.

In a Week 6 win over Jordan, the Eagles scored twice in less than four minutes between the first and second quarters and rolled to a 55-12 victory. Running back Saia Vake scored two rushing touchdowns in that game, according to a KSL roundup.

Pine View, the No. 11 seed, was 4-2 through Week 6 and lost a close 28-25 game to Snow Canyon in Region 9 play that week.

Olympus draws road trip to Springville

The Titans, seeded No. 12, face a tough road matchup against a Springville team that shut out Payson 48-0 in Week 6. Red Devils quarterback Beckett Burton threw four touchdown passes in that game, three of them to receiver Sam Nadauld, according to KSL.

First-year Olympus head coach Casey Evans, an Olympus alum and former three-time All-Mountain West selection at Utah, has been rebuilding after losing 34 players to graduation. The Titans opened the season with a 49-14 rout of Cedar Valley on Aug. 14, building a 49-0 halftime lead.

Olympus carries Oregon-committed senior linebacker Sam Ngata into the postseason. Ngata is the No. 13 recruit in Utah and a top-100 linebacker nationally, according to a Salt Lake Tribune profile published Oct. 2. He received an offer from the Ducks in November 2025 and later committed. Evans told the Tribune in that Oct. 2 profile: "When you turn on the tape, he's just the best player on the field."

Brighton's season ends

Brighton did not crack the 16-team 5A field. The Bengals opened the season 1-3 against a demanding nonregion schedule that included Ridgeline, the two-time reigning 4A state champion, and Crimson Cliffs, last year's 4A runner-up.

In a Week 4 loss to Crimson Cliffs, Brighton fell 36-13 after being outscored in the second half, according to a Deseret News roundup.

First-year head coach Jared Montzingo, who compiled an 82-39 record in 10 years at Park City, warned before the season that his young roster would face growing pains. As we reported Sept. 11, Montzingo said in an August Deseret News preview: "We will be young but talented this season … with a tough pre-region schedule, we will have to grow up fast."

Skyline and Olympus kick off their postseason runs at 6 p.m. Friday, Oct. 30. Skyline hosts Pine View; Olympus plays at Springville.
